Greetings Boils and Ghouls-

Here at Richardson Studio things are moving very fast. Summer is here and time flies when you're having fun, right? I've been creating like a mad man and the projects just keep coming. It's a great feeling to be so productive with art. I figured it's about time to update my journal and let you all know whats going on. First, my sculpture "BoneSnail" recently received a Daily Deviation! I want to thank DeviantArt and all the fans of the sculpt who took the time to view and comment on it. I love that we have all these platforms to share our work with the world. Art never dies and true lovers and diehard fans are amazing to me. Thanks!

I know many people are waiting to see my next collaboration with legendary artist/director/author Clive Barker. Well, the wait is almost over. I have embarked on sculpting Clive's illistration "V for Vise Versa"! The piece is near completion and will be cast in aluminum as a wall relief. It'll be available for the public, in a numbered edition, through "The Official Clive Barker Store" late August. Also, we're already talking and working out the details for another sculpt so do stay tune! Collaborating with Clive is a dream come true and I know fans of his work will be very happy with the sculpts.

I'm working on a commission with painters Brian Viveros and Dan Quintana. A very special project for the end of the year at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. This sculpt is absolutely a stunner!! I have been asked to keep it "hush hush" until we are closer to the end of the year and completion of the project. Believe me when I say "Big Mamma is very beautiful". I can't wait to get here out into the world.

Last Rites Gallery in NYC has invited me to participate in "The 13th Hour" exhibition this October!!! When I read the email asking me if I'd want to be involved I about feel over. No joke, I was absolutely floored. To show at Paul Booth's gallery is a great honor and accomplishment in the art world. Also, I will be attending the show with my father and brother. My first time in NYC and I'm VERY excited for this trip! For the show I'm creating a series of distorted baby heads to be cast in stainless steel. Each one will be unique and original. It's been a strange couple months sculpting and carving on sweet little baby heads. I keep waiting for their expressions to change and begin to cry but they're very obedient works of art ;) Anyway, I've made a quick YouTube video showing the process I go through to create one of these little monsters. View it here and enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjxucD…

Well having said this, back to the studio I go. Thanks to all my watchers and lovers of my craft. Cheers

Greetings Boils and Ghouls,

After 4 long months I'm happy to announce my sculpture for Clive Barker is complete! This sculpture has taken me on quite a journey into the unknown. I had to complete this sculpture in many, many steps making it very frustrating at times. The biggest challenge was fabricating a plastic collar and connecting that to the cast resin and then connecting the tubes. The tubes had to be cut in the mold and then reconnected at the very end. They had to connect from the back of Christopher Carrion's head to the back of the plastic collar. I used plenty of epoxy and Apoxie Sculpt. I had to be very careful with the paint job as everything was already sealed before I could add the tubes and collar. Lots and lots of trial and error but hey, that's how I learn. It was nice to push the limits of sculpture and myself. I had a blast busting out my trusty ol'airbrush and really creating a radical finish. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the complete sculpture. Bringing Clive Barker's vision of "Christopher Carrion" to life has been a very exciting process and I'm thankful for the opportunity. Now, I will take "The Lord Of Midnight" out into the world and introduce him to my next big exhibition, MONSTERPALOOZA. If you're in LA you need to be at this show APRIL 12-14, in Burbank, CA!! Come by my booth, say hello, and dig on my work. After MONSTERPALOOZA I'll be delivering "Christopher Carrion" to the master himself, Clive Barker :) I can't wait!! I also look forward to doing more work with Clive in the future so keep your eyes peeled!

Through the 4 month process I've been filming the progress. I just got it all put together and published on my YouTube channel. Please watch and enjoy as "Christopher Carrion" comes to life. Here you go: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJHtxs…

I should have finished photos up early next week but for now, here is a teaser. Cheers

Greetings Boils and Ghouls,

Two weeks ago I got the go ahead from Clive Barker to begin sculpting "Christopher Carrion" a character from ABARAT! It's a great feeling of excitement. I am very grateful for this project as I've been a fan of Clive's work since childhood. If you haven't read ABART you must! I purchased it from ITunes (audio book) and I will have to say Clive has only gotten better! This series is absolutely stunning. His ability to take you on a visionary adventure is one of a kind. A true master. Clive has also asked me to sculpt some of his original drawings :) I am overwhelmed with joy for this. My creative epicenter is a powerhouse at the moment, so having said that, it's back to the studio for me! Stay tuned for more on this project...Here are some progress pics thus far. Cheers

UPDATE: Clive Barker posted a progress picture of this sculpt on his Facebook page. Have a look :)www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…

UPDATE: I started the silicone mould this weekend. Everything went well and now I'll get started on the Forton mother mould. Progress pic below, enjoy.

Hello boils and ghouls,

I just returned from my trip to LA for Chet Zar's "Conjoined III" exhibition @ Copro Gallery. The show was a major success! The gallery was PACKED and sales were great. The level of skill and expertise in this show was through the roof. This is was second year in the exhibition and first time attending. I had heard from many people that "Conjoined II" was absolutely amazing and half of LA was there so I had an idea of what this years show was going to be like. Many of the artists are in the special effects industry and have worked with pioneers like Rick Baker. I highly recommend, if in the LA area, stopping by the gallery and having a look before Feb. 9th.  If not, you can have a look at the online preview here: www.copronason.com

While I was in LA I was fortunate enough to be invited on "Upon a Midnight Dreary Podcast" with host Dahlia Jane. Every week she interviews artists and discusses all the creepy and unusual things in the world. Dahlia has always been a supporter of the arts as well as a friend. Check her blog and podcast out here: uponamidnightdreary.com/podcas…

Cheers
